Trappe, PA, April 2007 – When an American war hero needed assistance from the surrounding community, Epps Advertising helped make it happen by volunteering to create a marketing program to spread the word. The program helped generate awareness and an overwhelming response from individuals and business, who all worked together to help Sgt. Pisey Tan realize his dream of an accessible home. Sgt. Tan lost both of his legs in Iraq as the result of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The effort to help Sgt. Tan was spearheaded by Homes for Our Troops, an organization dedicated to building barrier-free homes for severely injured veterans across the U.S. The McKee Group, an award-winning builder in Springfield, Pa., had offered to build a fully-handicap accessible home for Pisey. But, to make the project a reality, volunteers were needed to donate a variety of materials, products, and funds, as well as time and talents. As a client of Epps Advertising, The McKee Group recognized the added value a professional marketing program could bring to the effort. When they asked the Epps team for assistance, the agency volunteered to donate its creative talents.

The Epps Advertising team created a marketing program that included posters, ads and a direct mail campaign. The effort resulted in an outstanding response. In fact, when Sgt. Tan and his family opened the door to their new home, they were delighted to find it fully furnished and fully equipped – along with a refrigerator that was fully loaded.
