Case Study #3 - Analyze the expense breakdown of a successful advertising campaign.

Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College
Ursinus College President John Strassburger hosted a gathering of the college’s highest-level donors at the Berman Museum of Art for an evening of recognition. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a reproduction print from the Philip and Muriel Berman collection of Japanese prints and scrolls, which each donor received after the ceremonies.
Epps Advertising was hired to create an innovative presentation for the gift. The budget was $10 per piece, which included printing.
The reproduction print was a flat 8 1/2 x 11. Instead of matting and
framing the print, we decided most people prefer to do their own
framing. We needed to keep it simple, cost effective, yet extraordinary
in presentation.
Because the print was from an early 19th century woodblock featuring
a wooded scene, we chose an environmental paper. We inserted the
print into a Chinese red string-tie envelope, and then sealed it
by tying wooden chopsticks to the clasp. Large round labels, depicting
the Japanese Ukiyo-e Age logo and President’s Circle logo were also
affixed with the string.
We were able to go under budget, and although allowed $10 per piece,
we produced 500 pieces for less than $6 per piece.
Lisa Hanover, Director of the Berman, stated, “We had a lot of feedback
- all recipients were thrilled to have such an elegant
reproduction of an image from the exhibition, loved the presentation
and the high quality appearance...We can always count on Epps to exceed
our expectations, from small projects to large campaigns.”
